Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the team's Week 2 win against the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced on Monday. The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys' 40-39 victory.

Diggs, a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, had been a key part of the Cowboys' defense this season, starting all four games and recording 27 tackles, three passes defended and one interception. He had been playing well in the game against the Falcons, recording an interception and four tackles before the injury.

The Cowboys have yet to make a decision on whether Diggs will be placed on injured reserve, but the team is expected to make a move soon. If he is placed on injured reserve, Diggs would be out for the remainder of the 2023 season. The Cowboys' defense has already been hit hard by injuries, with linebacker Leighton Vander Esch and defensive tackle Trysten Hill being placed on injured reserve in the past two weeks.

Losing Diggs is a major blow to the Cowboys' secondary, which is already without veteran cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, who is out with a hamstring injury. The Cowboys will now need to rely on second-year cornerback Reggie Robinson and rookie Tre Brown to step up in Diggs' absence.

The Cowboys have yet to make any moves to address the situation in the secondary, but they could look to the free agent market to find a replacement for Diggs. The team could also look to the upcoming NFL Draft, where there are several talented cornerbacks available.

The Cowboys will have to move forward without Diggs for the rest of the 2023 season, and it remains to be seen how the team will adjust to his absence. However, the team is confident that they have the personnel to make up for the loss of the star cornerback.
